Sigh
1 of Elijah's friends tried to steal part of our nintendo 64 this afternoon. i can't believe the guts of this kid. Elijah was grounded so when he came over he told him he couldn't play. Well, he told the kids he lost something here and wanted to look for it. i was in my room doing something so the kids came in to tell me. Well, the kid yells, tell your mom i can find it i don't need help. So i went out to see what was going on. He sat on the couch and said i don't need help i don't need help so i said ok i am not helping you just sitting. And because he was acting weird i sat and watched him. He sat on the ground by our nintendo and opened it. it has this piece on top that holds a memory chip that we bought when we bought the nintendo 8 years ago. He was acting really weird so i asked him what he was doing and he said nothing. So i went down and said the kids aren't supposed to be playing that anyway so i will just put it away then i asked what he was looking for and he said its red. Well, my house is actually clean right now so i said, i didn't see anything while i was cleaning. Then he said i was throwing it around and it fell in the Nintendo. So i said well that should never have been open, but i will look. So i opened the switch pulled the chip out and said see there is nothing in there. Then he told me the chip was his and that was what he was looking for. So i said no this is ours so he said ok i will leave and he ran out the door. So i asked Elijah and he said that yesterday this kid had opened the nintendo to show Elijah the part that he lost and said he couldn't play his nintendo because it was missing. Ug. i know for a fact this is ours because it has the memory for all our games. Now i just don't know what to do. Blake wants me to call the parents but i don't feel it would do any good. The Dad is weird, and the Mom is sick and the kid spends his days wondering the neighborhood and hanging out with whomever will let him in. i have always felt bad for him and let him and his sister hang out a lot but now i don't want him here. Plus the Mom has said to me how she favors this kid over the other 2 so i am not sure she would believe me. Blake thinks if i approach it from the point of view of he can't come over anymore because of this she will listen. They are in our ward and i don't want to cause any issues. My sister in law thinks i should just tell the kid that he can't play because he tried to steal Elijah's stuff and if the parents ask about it tell them then. That makes sense to me but at the same time it seems like this poor kid is burning bridges all over the neighborhood so i feel bad. the other option is to hide the nintendo and only let them play outside. UG. What to do what to do. Sometimes i think it would be much easier to have my kids be hermits and friendless! He has always been a sweet kid, but obviously needs to be watched.

Wow, that is crazy!! I don't know what I would do. Part of me says to call the mom, just because I definitely would want to know if my kid tried something like that. But the situation with the parents sounds weird. I say tell him he can only come over to play outside from now on, b/c he tried to steal. Yikes!
